2025 O/L exam to begin tomorrow
2026-02-16 - 04:10
Professor and Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist Miyuru Chandradasa of the Faculty of Medicine, Ragama, says that students sitting the 2025 G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination, which begins tomorrow (Feb. 17), should spend today in a relaxed frame of mind. Speaking to the media, he stressed that students sitting for the exams must not break rest to study. Instead, they should take steps to calm themselves, including engaging in religious observances if they wish. He emphasized that students should avoid trying to learn new sections of the syllabus within this limited time and that revising what has already been studied would be sufficient. Prof. Chandradasa further pointed out that the first 05 minutes after receiving the question paper are crucial. As stress levels may increase during that period, candidates should refrain from rushing to answer the first question. Rather, they should read the paper carefully and choose a question they can answer confidently. Beginning with an easier question is a more effective strategy, he said, noting that this approach helps convert negative stress into positive pressure. According to the Department of Examinations, a total of 451,463 candidates are expected to sit the examination at 3,545 centres. The examination will run from Feb. 17 to Feb. 26. Commissioner General of Examinations A.K.S. Indika Kumari Liyanage has advised candidates to report to their respective centres at least one hour before the scheduled start of the examination.
