3 nabbed at BIA with over 16 kg of ‘Kush’

03 persons, including a female, have been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake, by the officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau Airport Unit while in possession of over 16 kg of ‘Kush’. The seized stock of ‘Kush’ is estimated to have a street value of over Rs. 160 million. The suspects have been identified as residents of Colombo and Wellampitiya, while the 02 men are aged 33 and 28 while the woman is aged 35. According to police, one of the suspects is engaged in operating a spa business. The trio had allegedly purchased the drugs in Bangkok and travelled to Sri Lanka via Dubai, arriving at the BIA yesterday (Feb. 15) at around 7.00 p.m. on Emirates flight EK-654. During inspection, officers discovered 16 kg and 400 g of ‘Kush’ concealed inside one of their luggage, separately in 60 packed parcels. The suspects are due to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court today (Feb. 16).
