3rd Japan-SL Committee on Business Environment, convened

The third meeting of the Japan–Sri Lanka Committee on Business Environment was convened at the Board of Investment (BOI) of Sri Lanka today (Feb. 23). Representatives from the Embassy of Japan, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), relevant Japanese companies operating in Sri Lanka, as well as officials from the BOI and other pertinent Sri Lankan authorities, participated in the meeting. The two sides engaged themselves in substantive discussions on a range of business-related issues currently faced by Japanese enterprises in Sri Lanka. Referring to the Intergovernmental Economic Policy Dialogue held on 16th February, in which ways to promote Japanese investment in Sri Lanka and address existing challenges were discussed, Mr. Ohashi Kenji, Head of the Economic Section of the Embassy of Japan underscored the significance of the Committee’s role in fostering an improved business environment for prospective Japanese investors. He emphasised the importance of addressing concrete issues encountered by Japanese companies operating in Sri Lanka. In this context, Mr. Ohash also expressed his sincere appreciation for the close cooperation extended by the BOI and other relevant agencies of the Government of Sri Lanka.
