Agreement to increase Plantation Workers’ wages to be signed tomorrow

The Ministry of Plantation and Community Infrastructure Development announces that the agreement relating to the increase in plantation workers’ wages will be signed tomorrow (30). Accordingly, the Ministry stated that the agreements will be entered into with the Regional Plantation Companies. When presenting the Budget for 2026, the President took steps to increase the daily wage of the plantation worker community to Rs. 1,750. At that time, it was decided to increase the basic wage from Rs. 1,350 to Rs. 1,550, and for the government to pay an additional Rs. 200 as an attendance allowance. Accordingly, a sum of Rs. 5,000 million has been allocated in the Budget for wages.
