The latest audit reports reveal that several institutions which chartered aircraft from the Sri Lanka Air Force have defaulted on payments amounting to over Rs. 12.7 million. According to the reports, this outstanding rental income, accumulated between 2006 and 2021, had still not been recovered by the end of 2024. The reports further state that 639 hectares of Air Force land and seven buildings had been in use without the legal transfer of ownership. It was also noted that the process of formally acquiring these lands had progressed at a very slow pace.
