Another suspect arrested over Jinthupitiya shooting

Another suspect allegedly linked to the fatal shooting that took place on Jan. 16 in Jinthupitiya, within the Foreshore Police Division, has been arrested. The shooting claimed the life of a 44-year-old man. A young boy and a girl who were also injured in the attack were admitted to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children in Colombo for treatment. Preliminary investigations revealed that the assailants had arrived at the scene in a three-wheeler and fled shortly after carrying out the shooting. The Colombo North Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau arrested the suspect yesterday (Jan. 29) in the Hettiyawatta area. Police also seized a three-wheeler at the time of arrest. Police identified the arrested suspect as a 63-year-old resident of Colombo 13. He is scheduled to be produced before the Hulftsdorp Magistrate’s Court today (Jan. 30). Further investigations are underway by the Foreshore Police.
