Anusha Palpita remanded till Feb 20

Former Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media and former Chairman of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL), Anusha Palpita, has been further remanded until February 20 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court. The order was issued after considering submissions made by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) and attorneys representing the suspect. Palpita was arrested on January 23 in connection with an investigation into alleged failure to disclose the source of assets valued at approximately Rs. 46 million. According to CIABOC, he was taken into custody after arriving at the Commission and providing an initial statement. The arrest relates to allegations that he accumulated assets and properties disproportionate to his declared income during a specific period.
