Bar Association issues statement on killing near Army Headquarters

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka has issued a statement regarding the shooting and killing of a lawyer and his wife yesterday (13) evening in front of the Keells supermarket located near the Army Headquarters at Akuregoda, Thalangama. The statement notes that the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) strongly condemns this tragic incident. The BASL further points out that such attacks pose a grave threat to the rule of law. Accordingly, the Bar Association has called upon the Police to conduct a thorough and expeditious investigation into the incident, to arrest the perpetrators, and to bring them before the law. The Association also emphasises that law enforcement authorities must take firm measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
