Bohra Leader meets President (Photo)

A meeting between the spiritual leader of the Bohra community, Seyyedna Mufaddal Saifuddin Saheb, and President Anura Kumara Dissanayake took place at the Presidential Secretariat. Members of the Bohra community, numbering over one million, reside in several countries including India, Pakistan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Sri Lanka and Australia. Engaging in cordial discussions with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Seyyedna Mufaddal Saifuddin Saheb commended the programme being pursued by the Government under the President’s leadership towards a new social and economic transformation in Sri Lanka. He also expressed his appreciation for the comprehensive initiatives implemented by the Government to combat the drug menace and prevent fraud and corruption, and conveyed his blessings in this regard. During the meeting, the spiritual leader of the Bohra community briefed the President on the long-standing relations between the Bohra community in Sri Lanka and other communities, as well as on the Bohra community’s contribution to the country’s economy. Expressing his views on the occasion, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake conveyed his respectful appreciation for the visit of the spiritual leader of the Bohra community, Seyyedna Mufaddal Saifuddin Saheb, to Sri Lanka. A delegation, including leaders and representatives of the Bohra community, attended the meeting. Representing the Government of Sri Lanka were Deputy Speaker Rizvie Salih, Western Province Governor Hanif Yusoof, and Secretary to the President Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.
