The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) has confirmed that claims circulating on social media regarding a SriLankan Airlines flight UL 1213, which departed from Sri Lanka for Rome, are false. In a statement, the authority said the information being shared online is not based on verified facts. It explained that flight UL 1213 departed for Rome yesterday (March 09) to facilitate passengers who had already booked travel to Europe and other destinations through the Middle East, and to assist Sri Lankan passengers and tourists in the region to return home. However, posts circulating on social media had claimed that the flight was organized to bring back a minister allegedly stranded in Rome. The statement further clarified that the minister mentioned in the posts had already returned to the country several days earlier.
