China’s 2026 ‘Two Sessions’ concludes today (Pics)

The 2026 ‘Two Sessions’ of China, which is considered as the most crucial, annual political event of China, concludes today (March 12). ‘Two Sessions’ is a collective term for the annual plenary sessions of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). The 14th National Committee of the CPPCC, which is China’s top political advisory body, concluded its annual session yesterday. 2,059 members of the CPPCC attended the closing session held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, which was attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping and other state leaders. A resolution on the work report of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, a resolution on the report on how the proposals from political advisors have been handled since the previous annual session, a report on the examination of new proposals, and a political resolution of the fourth session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee were approved at the meeting. Wang Huning, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. Addressing the event, Chairman of the CPPCC Wang Huning said, “We should give full play to the role of the CPPCC as a specialised consultative body, and unite and lead all political parties, groups and people of all ethnic groups and sectors participating in the CPPCC, so as to widely rally people’s support, consensus, wisdom and strength for a good start to the 15th Five-Year Plan.” Meanwhile, the closing meeting of the 4th session of the 14th NPC, which is China’s top legislature, will be held at the Great Hall of the People, today.
