Cinnamon exports generate nearly Rs. 8,000 million in revenue

The Department of Cinnamon Development says that export earnings from cinnamon products amounted to USD 260 million (nearly Rs. 8,000 million) last year. Director General of the Department, Janaka Lindara, stated that the institution aims to reach a target of USD 300 million in export revenue this year. Among cinnamon products, cinnamon quills accounted for the largest share of exports, generating revenue of USD 251 million. The remaining income was earned from cinnamon bark, leaves and oils. This is considered the highest annual revenue ever recorded from cinnamon-based products in the country’s history.
