CMC resumes parking charges from today

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has decided to resume vehicle parking charges within its jurisdiction from today (March 23). According to the Municipal Commissioner, parking management and fee collection resumed at 6.00 am, following a decision by the Finance Standing Committee. Parking fees were temporarily suspended from March 18 due to heavy traffic congestion and long queues near fuel stations. Authorities noted that congestion has eased after the implementation of the QR code system and vehicle number-based fuel distribution. As a result, the CMC has decided to reinstate the usual parking fee system.
