‘Commando Salintha’ breaks down before Magistrate

Underworld criminal Salintha Madushan Perera, alias ‘Commando Salintha’, has reportedly broken down in tears before the Colombo Fort Magistrate. This had occurred when the Magistrate recently visited the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to inspect suspects in custody. During the inspection, he has allegedly told the Magistrate, while crying, that he was not receiving proper meals while being detained by the CID. He claimed that his relatives travel from Anuradhapura once a week to check on his well-being and bring prepared food, but the food is often not delivered to him on time. According to sources, ‘Commando Salintha’ has further stated that the food provided to him often arrives spoiled and unfit for consumption. He further alleged that CID officers do not allow him to keep food items for later use, the sources added. “Commando Salintha” was arrested in Indonesia in September 2025 and subsequently brought to Sri Lanka, where he has since been detained at the CID.
