Education reforms for Grade 6 to be introduced from 2027

Prime Minister – Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has stated that new education reforms for Grade 6 will be introduced starting in 2027. The Prime Minister made the statement during a meeting with the Chief Sanghanayake of Uva Wellassa and Chief Incumbent of Yudaganawa Raja Maha Viharaya, Venerable Galtemwatte Nandaratana Nayake Thero. She confirmed that new textbooks are being prepared for printing and will be submitted to the Educational Publications Department, Ministry of Education. In addition, Dr. Amarasuriya stated that all provinces have received the required allocations for provincial school infrastructure development. She urged that these funds be utilized effectively and called on schools to submit requests to address existing deficiencies.
