Energy Minister must be arrested – Kusal (Video)

Senior political columnist Kusal Perera has stated that even though the opposition is demanding the resignation of the Energy Minister, who has already incurred twice the amount of losses incurred from the Treasury Bonds scam, what really should be done is to arrest him. He questioned why figures such as Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Nalin Fernando were arrested over the Carrom Board case involving Rs. 53 million, yet no action has been taken against the Energy Minister, who had caused losses of Rs. 07 billion through the substandard coal procurement. Perera further criticized the current government, which came to power in 2022 on an anti-corruption platform, saying that its efforts have largely targeted a few individuals linked to the Rajapaksa administration rather than addressing wider systemic corruption.
