The warning applies to the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North-Western provinces. It also covers the districts of Anuradhapura, Mannar, Vavuniya, and Monaragala. Authorities advise residents in these areas to stay alert, avoid direct sunlight when possible, drink plenty of water, and reduce outdoor activities during peak heat hours. Meanwhile, Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Rumi Ruben of the Galle Karapitiya Hospital said that the intense heat currently affecting the country could also impact mental health. He noted that high temperatures may cause confusion and psychological distress among some people. Officials stress the importance of taking both physical and mental health precautions during this period of extreme heat.
