Heavy Snowfall Batters New York City!

Foreign media report that due to severe blizzard conditions affecting New York City, US authorities have cancelled around 5,500 flights today (23) alone. More than 22 inches of snow have fallen in some areas along the eastern seaboard of the United States, with intense storm conditions prevailing. As a result of the blizzard, states including Massachusetts, Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey and Rhode Island have declared states of emergency. Authorities have also ordered the closure of schools, while power outages have affected hundreds of thousands of people. Meanwhile, all non-essential travel has been banned in New York City. Latest weather forecasts indicate that snowfall of up to two feet is expected in some areas. It is further reported that this is the first time in nine years that New York City has been hit by a blizzard.
