A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka by the end of March. According to Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando, the visit is part of a review process ahead of the sixth tranche under Sri Lanka’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) programme. The country has so far received 05 previous tranches under this IMF facility. During the visit, the IMF team is expected to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the government’s progress in meeting the programme’s economic targets and policy commitments. Following the review, the parties are anticipated to reach agreements necessary for the release of the sixth tranche of funding, Fernando added.
