Indian High Commissioner tells Ranil to prepare for Provincial Council elections

It is reported that Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha has informed former President Ranil Wickremesinghe to prepare for the Provincial Council elections. In response, the former President is said to have replied, “We are ready.” The exchange took place when the High Commissioner met the former President at his office on Flower Road recently. It is further stated that the meeting was limited to only the former President and the High Commissioner. However, it is reported that when Mr SantoshJha arrived at Flower Road to meet the former President, the latter had been engaged in a discussion with a group of Opposition representatives, and the High Commissioner waited in his official vehicle for about ten minutes until the discussion concluded. They are also said to have discussed the progress of projects initiated by India in Sri Lanka during the meeting. An official from the Indian High Commission subsequently arrived, took a photograph of the meeting, and later released it to the media.
