Indian national arrested for assaulting spa owner over alleged abuse of French woman

The Office of the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Southern Province says a foreign national has been arrested in connection with assaulting a man accused of sexually abusing a foreign woman at an Ayurvedic massage centre. According to complaints received by the police, a French national woman had visited an Ayurvedic massage centre located in the Mahasenpura area of Tissamaharama for a massage. She had later informed her Indian national friend that she was sexually abused by the husband of the owner of the massage centre. When the Indian national went to the massage centre to inquire into the matter, an argument broke out, during which the assault took place. The owner of the massage centre subsequently informed the police emergency hotline (119) about the incident. Accordingly, the suspect, an Indian national, was arrested by the Tissamaharama Police, while the man who was assaulted was admitted to the Debarawewa Hospital for treatment. The French national woman who allegedly suffered the abuse has also been admitted to the Hambantota Hospital to be produced before a Judicial Medical Officer for examination.
