The Indian Navy warship INS GHARIAL has arrived at the Port of Colombo on an official visit. The vessel arrived at the Port of Colombo the day before yesterday (04) and was accorded a traditional naval welcome by the Sri Lanka Navy. The ship is commanded by Commander Gaurav Tiwari. Measuring approximately 124 metres in length, the warship has brought with it 10 temporary bridges intended for deployment in disaster-affected areas. The Sri Lanka Navy Media Unit stated that these are due to be handed over to the Disaster Management Centre. During its stay in Sri Lanka, the warship is also scheduled to take part in programmes organised to enhance goodwill between the two countries, as well as to undertake visits to several locations to view important sites across the island.
