2026-03-05 - 14:07

An Iranian drone attack has targeted the Nakhchivan region administered by Azerbaijan. Condemning the attack in strong terms, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the incident occurred at around 12 noon today (5). According to the Ministry, one drone struck the terminal building of the airport in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, while another drone crashed near a school building in the village of Shakarabad. Two civilians were injured in the attack, and damage was also caused to the airport. The Nakhchivan region is located along the borders of Iran and Turkey. As Armenia also claims the territory, a peace agreement between the two countries is currently in effect with the mediation of the United States. Iran has long accused the Azerbaijani government of allowing the country to function as an Israeli intelligence outpost.
