Foreign reports state that the Iranian warship IRIS Lavan has arrived at Kochi Port in India with the approval of Indian authorities. The vessel reportedly sailed to Kochi due to an identified technical issue. Indian media reported that permission was granted for the ship to anchor at Kochi Port following a request made by Iran in connection with the issue. The IRIS Lavan had earlier arrived in India to take part in a naval exercise and an international naval review held there. Accordingly, the vessel was carrying 183 crew members. They have now reportedly been taken to secure camps in the Kochi area under the supervision of the Indian Navy. Reports also state that the request for the vessel to enter India was made on the same day that Israel and the United States jointly launched an attack on Iran, in which Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed. Following that request, India granted approval on the 1st, after which the IRIS Lavan proceeded to Kochi Port, according to foreign media reports. Before reaching Kochi Port, the Lavan warship had reportedly been in waters off Visakhapatnam on India’s eastern coast.
