Israel PM – Benjamin Netanyahu has said that ‘Israel acted alone’ in strikes on Iran’s South Pars, part of the world’s largest natural gas field. “President Trump asked us to hold off on future attacks and we are,” he added. Netanyahu said this during a media conference, where he had highlighted several issues. US President Donald Trump had also criticised Israel for the attack – which he said he “knew nothing” about. Seeking to dispel “fake news”, he had insisted Israel did not drag the US into this war – telling reporters Trump makes his own decisions. “Does anyone really think that someone can tell President Trump what to do? Come on,” he said. Responding to a question on what signs there are that the Iranian regime is “cracking”, he says “there are a lot”. “We’re working to create the conditions for it to collapse, but it may survive, it may not”, he says. If it survives, he says it “be at its weakest point”. He also said that Iran is “weaker than it’s ever been”, Netanyahu said the country no longer has the capability to either enrich uranium or create ballistic missiles. However he had refused to commit to a potential timeframe for the ending of the war, saying it will take “as long as necessary” – but he did say it could end faster than people think.
