Kapila Chandrasena arrested

Former Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines, Mr Kapila Chandrasena, has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption. The arrest was made in connection with allegations that he accepted a bribe of US$2 million during the purchase of Airbus aircraft for SriLankan Airlines. Mr Chandrasena had been summoned before the Bribery Commission today to record a statement, and he was arrested after a statement was obtained from him over a period of nearly seven hours.
