‘Keselwatte Dinusha’ to be detained for 72 hours

The Colombo Magistrate Court has permitted the Keselwatte police to detain organised criminal Hewapedige Dinusha Chathuranga, alias ‘Keselwatte Dinusha’ for 72 hours for questioning. The Keselwatte police have said that they will subsequently seek a detention order to permit the detain and question the suspect for 30 days. ‘Keselwatte Dinusha’, a 34-year-old resident of Keselwatte, was brought to the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake on Jan. 24 under heavy security from Chennai. Authorities had previously issued an international Red Notice for his arrest. It is said that the suspect is also said to be the main aide of former organised criminal – ‘Keselwatte Dinuka’, who was reported dead while overseas. Further investigations are underway.
