Maithree seeks more time to give statement to CID

The wife of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe – Prof. Maithree Wickremesinghe, has requested two weeks’ time to provide a statement to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). She had been scheduled to appear before the Financial Crimes Investigation Division of the CID today in relation to the ongoing investigation into former president Wickremesinghe’s 2023 United Kingdom visit. The CID stated that she sought the extension due to illness.
