Man arrested for attempting to sell Wallapatta via Facebook

A man who had allegedly advertised agarwood (locally known as “Wallapatta”) for sale on Facebook has been arrested by officers of the Kalutara Divisional Anti-Corruption Unit. The arrest was made on Jan. 22 during a raid conducted using undercover agents, following information gathered from the relevant advertisement. At the time of the arrest, the suspect was found in possession of 1 kg and 650 g of agarwood. The suspect has been identified as a resident of the Bombuwala area in Kalutara. He has been handed over to the Dodangoda Police for further investigations and is scheduled to be produced before the Matugama Magistrate’s Court.
