The Sri Lanka Navy has generated approximately US$598,250 in foreign exchange within four months by providing security-related services to international merchant vessels, officials said. Rear Admiral Harsha de Silva, Director General of Naval Operations, stated that the revenue was earned since the launch of the programme on October 3, 2025, under agreements signed with foreign private maritime security companies. Under the initiative, the Navy provides logistical and operational support to security personnel deployed aboard commercial vessels, creating a new source of foreign currency income for the country.
