New SLPA Chairman assumes office

Dr. Parakrama Dissanayake officially assumed office as chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) yesterday (Feb. 18). Dr. Dissanayake had previously served as the SLPA chairman on two separate occasions and brings experience in maritime operations, logistics and corporate management. In his new term, Dr Dissanayake is expected to focus on improving port operations, enhancing logistics efficiency, and strengthening Sri Lanka’s position as a regional maritime hub.He has held senior positions in both the public and private sectors, including leadership roles at Aitken Spence PLC and its subsidiaries. He has also served in national port management and advisory positions. Internationally, Dr. Dissanayake was the first non-British president of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and has participated in United Nations maritime advisory initiatives. (Newswire) He is a Business Alumni University of Oxford (UK), Postgraduate Alumni of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in Business Administration and Marketing Management and has pursued Executive Management Education at Harvard Business School USA and University of Cambridge UK. He has been conferred with the Asia Brand Leadership Award by CMO Asia, Best Shipping Personality by the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Sri Lanka and was inducted as a “Legend of Logistics” at the National Logistics Awards ceremony. He is also the Hon. Consul in Sri Lanka for the Republic of Fiji.
