New Southern Province Governor assumes duties

Professor Susiripala Manawadu officially assumed duties as Governor of the Southern Province this morning (Feb. 25) at the Governor’s Secretariat in Galle. The ceremony was attended by political representatives, government officials, and senior security personnel of the province. Appointed by the President under Article 154B of the Constitution, his appointment took effect from yesterday (Feb. 24). Prof. Manawadu currently serves as Vice Chairman of the State Advisory Sub-Committee on Radio, Newspapers, and Social Media of the Arts Council of Sri Lanka. He has previously held positions as Head of the Sinhala Department and Senior Assistant Librarian at the University of Ruhuna.
