No fuel shortage until May, assures Chairman of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation

2026-03-01 - 11:07

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation states that there will be no delay in receiving the fuel stocks that have been ordered up to April and May. Its Chairman, D. J. Rajakaruna, speaking at a media briefing held today (01), said that the relevant fuel shipments are scheduled to arrive from India and Singapore. He further noted that, therefore, the ongoing conflict situation in the Middle East would not disrupt the country’s fuel supply. “We are saying this responsibly. Therefore, there is no point in queuing. We had not planned to distribute fuel today (01). However, as the public continues to consume fuel, we called all employees involved in fuel distribution to report for duty. Fuel issuance has now commenced. Likewise, although tomorrow (02) is a Poya day, fuel supplies will continue. We have instructed all filling stations not to supply fuel to cans. If attempts are made to purchase fuel in cans and resell it, we will enforce the law.”
