No significant impact on Lankans in Middle East – MFA

In light of the instability in the Middle East region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that it has paid close attention to the Sri Lankan community residing in countries across the region. The Ministry has officially stated that it is maintaining continuous and close contact with all Sri Lankan embassies and diplomatic missions located in the Middle East. It has also emphasised that all missions have been instructed to monitor the situation in the region on a minute-by-minute basis. A dedicated emergency contact number accessible via WhatsApp, +94 71 980 2822, has also been introduced for Sri Lankans living in the Middle East through the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment. Despite the prevailing crisis, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stressed that, so far, no significant impact or harm has been reported among Sri Lankans residing in the Middle East.
