The Department of Posts states that information has been reported regarding a scam carried out using a fake website resembling its official website. Issuing a statement, the Department noted that fraudsters are sending mobile phone SMS messages informing recipients that a payment must be made to receive a parcel, and requesting that such payments be made through online methods. Postmaster General Mr R. P. Sathkumara stated that under this fraudulent scheme, when customers enter their card details via a payment gateway, steps are taken to unlawfully access and withdraw funds from their bank accounts. Therefore, the public is urged to be vigilant regarding such fraudulent SMS links, fake websites, and online payment requests. Mr R. P. Sathkumara further requested the public not to access unfamiliar links and not to share their bank card details or OTP codes with any third parties or websites under any circumstances.
