Pentagon planning a ground assault on Iran; 4,000 Marines deployed to the Middle East

The Washington Post has reported that the Pentagon is preparing to carry out a ground military operation inside Iran. The report states that this would be a large-scale operation expected to last several weeks. It is also said that war plans have already been finalised by the United States Department of Defence. However, the report notes that it remains unclear whether the US President will grant approval for the operation. Earlier reports also indicated that around 4,000 Marines have already been deployed to the Middle East region. It is further stated that paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division are on standby for the operation.
