Piumi’s son among suspects remanded again

The son of model Piumi Hansamali, along with six other suspects accused of assaulting a three-wheeler driver in the Kalapaluwawa area of Rajagiriya, has been remanded until the 20th, Colombo Additional Magistrate Nuwan Kaushalya ordered today (18). Although prison officials produced the suspects before the court for an identification parade, the magistrate ordered that the parade be postponed and the suspects remanded again, as the aggrieved witness had been hospitalised due to illness. Police investigations reveal that about three months ago, a friend of the model’s son met with an accident involving a three-wheeler while travelling on a motorcycle in the Rajagiriya area. Following the incident, the model’s son and a group of suspects allegedly assaulted the three-wheeler driver. The investigation is being carried out by the Welikada Police. Attorneys Achini Umayangana and Imashi Senadheera appeared on behalf of the suspects.
