It is reported that Janith Madhusanka, alias “Podi Lassi” — a major drug trafficker arrested in India and a suspect wanted by police in connection with several murder cases — is due to be brought back to Sri Lanka in the early hours of tomorrow (27). After being granted bail, Podi Lassi had gone into hiding. In 2024, having secured bail, he fled to India. Following the granting of bail, he is said to have left the court premises in a motor vehicle belonging to a lawyer. He was later arrested in India, in Mumbai, in January 2025. It is reported that two officers from the Criminal Investigation Department travelled to India yesterday, and arrangements have been made to bring him back to the country in the early hours of tomorrow (27).
