Popular actor Hemal Ranasinghe arrested

Sri Lankan actor Hemal Ranasinghe surrendered to the Wellawatte Police Station this morning (February 3) over an alleged assault that reportedly took place on January 8, 2026, at Havelock City in Wellawatta. Police confirmed that Ranasinghe had been repeatedly summoned to provide a statement regarding the complaint but failed to comply. Following his surrender, Ranasinghe was taken into custody and is scheduled to be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court.
