2026-02-21 - 09:26
The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) states that public consultations on the proposals submitted by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) regarding a revision of electricity tariffs for the second quarter of 2026 will commence on 25 February. The Commission noted that public views will be obtained both orally and in writing from 25 February until 18 March. These consultations are to be conducted covering all nine provinces, after which the Commission will consider the submissions and other relevant matters before making a decision on the proposed tariff revision. On the 13th, the Ceylon Electricity Board submitted its proposal to the Public Utilities Commission seeking an electricity tariff increase of 13.56% for the second quarter of 2026, covering the period from 1 April to 31 June. Although the CEB had earlier proposed an electricity tariff increase of 11.57% for the first quarter of 2026, this did not receive the approval of the Public Utilities Commission.
