Pvt. schools requested to close on Wednesdays

The Ministry of Education has requested that government-approved private schools also remain closed on Wednesdays, following the declaration of these days as public holidays for government schools. Secretary to the Ministry of Education – Nalaka Kaluwewa, added that a similar request has been made for international schools to adhere to the same schedule. In addition, the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has instructed that preschools remain closed on all Wednesdays. The Government has also directed that tuition classes and lectures should not be conducted on Wednesdays designated as public holidays. Commissioner General of Essential Services – Prabath Chandrakeerthi, stated that these measures have been implemented in response to the ongoing fuel crisis.
