RMV Chief arrested

Mr Kamal Amarasinghe, who serves as the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic, has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department. The arrest is in connection with allegations of aiding and abetting the alteration of a chassis number of a cab and facilitating a fraudulent registration. Mr Amarasinghe was taken into custody by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department and is scheduled to be produced before court today (28).
