Rs. 1.9 bn. from President’s Fund for Ditwah-affected students

The President’s Fund has allocated Rs. 1,925,010,000 to provide Rs. 10,000 financial assistance to schoolchildren across all districts affected by Cyclone Ditwah. The funds have already been distributed by District Secretaries to the respective Divisional Secretaries, the President’s Media Division said. To support the continuation of education for students in disaster-affected areas, the government has introduced a total allowance of Rs. 25,000 per student, with Rs. 15,000 disbursed from the General Treasury and Rs. 10,000 from the President’s Fund. The Rs. 10,000 component from the President’s Fund has already been fully disbursed to students in Ampara, Hambantota, Polonnaruwa, Monaragala, Mannar, and Vavuniya districts, with disbursement for other districts scheduled to be completed shortly.
