Saman Ekanayake further remanded

Former Secretary to the President Saman Ekanayake has been further remanded until Feb. 18 by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court. The case, which was originally filed against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, involves allegations of misappropriation of over Rs. 16.6 million of public funds. Ekanayake, named as the second suspect in the case, had been in remand custody since surrendering to the court through his lawyers and remains in custody ahead of today’s proceedings.
