Saman Ekanayake to be produced before court today

Former Secretary to the President, Saman Ekanayake, is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today (Feb. 18). He was remanded in connection with the case, which was originally filed against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, involving allegations of misappropriation of over Rs. 16.6 million of public funds. When the case was taken up before Colombo Fort Magistrate Isuru Neththikumara on Feb. 11, Ekanayake was ordered to be remanded until today. The Magistrate also announced that the decision regarding his bail application would be delivered today.
