School transport fares raised by 5% from today

The All Ceylon School Children’s Transport Association has announced a 5% increase in school transport fees, effective today (March 10). The decision follows the recent surge in fuel prices. Speaking at a press briefing, Association President Lalith Fernando noted that, despite previous fuel price revisions, transport fares had been maintained due to the country’s economic conditions. However, with the latest fuel price hike of Rs. 22 per litre, the Association has found it necessary to adjust fees. Fernando added that this decision was made after extensive consultations with other relevant transport associations.
