Schoolboy dies during athletics training

A schoolboy who was hospitalised after suddenly falling ill during school athletics training has died. Following the sudden illness, the student was admitted to the Buttala Divisional Hospital and was later transferred to the Monaragala District General Hospital for further treatment. However, it is reported that the student had already died by the time he was admitted to hospital. The deceased is a Grade 11 student. His body has been placed at the Monaragala District General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police investigations into the incident are underway.
