Sendaruwan released on bail after arrest

Mr Sendaruwan Senadheera, editor of the Lanka e News website, who was arrested yesterday (11), was released on bail today (12) after being produced before the court. The arrest had been made as he had been named a suspect in connection with a case currently being heard before the court. Attorney-at-law Upul Kumarapperuma presented submissions on his behalf during the court proceedings. Following the disappearance of Lanka e News journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda in 2010 and the arson attack on the organisation’s office, Mr Senadheera left the country seeking protection for his life. Since then, he has continued to operate his media activities while residing overseas.
