Showers expected after 2 pm in some areas

Showers or thundershowers are likely at a few places in the Southern province and in the Ratnapura and Monaragala districts after 2.00 p.m. today (Feb. 25), the Department of Meteorology stated. Mainly, fair weather will prevail over other areas of the island. Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Western, and Northwestern provinces and in the Anuradhapura, Galle, Matara, Monaragala, Mannar, and Vavuniya districts during early hours of the morning. Meanwhile, the general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
