SJB MP claims his security is scrapped

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Rohana Bandara has alleged that the police security provided to him following a threat on his life, has been removed after a few days. The MP told Parliament today (Feb. 05) that 04 police personnel were assigned for security at his residence in Anuradhapura, which was removed after a few days. “The first police report has stated that I have a threat to my life. However, the second police report said I have no such threats and it is only an internal party issue,” he said. Questioning how threats on life can change in two separate reports like that, MP asked whether he will be provided security based on his privilege issue raised in Parliament earlier. The Speaker has said that security is provided to MPs based on police reports.
